The main points:
  1. Pre-packaged Multipacks: Sellers are usually responsible for creating their own multipacks and sending them as a single SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) to Amazon's distribution centers. These must be sealed in a way that prevents them from being separated during the receiving and storage process.
  2. FBA Guidelines: Before shipping a multipack, make sure you comply with Amazon's FBA policy. This often includes correct labeling and packaging (see below).
  3. Product listing: You must also ensure that your multipack is listed correctly on Amazon. This involves creating a new product listing or variation that accurately represents the multipack, including the number of items and any distinguishing features.
  4. Mixed Inventory: If you use the mixed inventory option (also known as stickerless or commingled inventory), your items will be combined with the same items from other sellers. Even with mixed inventory, multipacks usually need to be pre-packaged.
  5. Special Services: Amazon offers some special services, such as the FBA Prep Service, but these do not typically include creating multipacks from individual items.
So all bundles need their own EAN after all. A multipack also has a different EAN. It is therefore considered a completely different product. The number requirements are listed below.

Individual Products and Multi-Packs at Amazon FBA
If you use Amazon's Fulfilment By Amazon (FBA) program, there are specific guidelines for using EAN codes for individual products and multi-packs or bundles.

For each unique individual productyou sell, a unique EAN code must be used. This is the code you use to identify the product in the Amazon catalog and must match the code on the product packaging itself.

Multi-Packs
If you have packaging that contains multiple copies of the same product, it must have a separate, unique EAN code. This helps Amazon distinguish between a single item and a multi-pack of that item.
Bundles of Different Products
If you sell a bundle of different products as a single sales item, this bundle should have its own unique EAN code. In this case, the EAN code represents the specific combination of products in the bundle, rather than the individual products.
Amazon ASIN
As soon as you add a product to the Amazon catalog, Amazon will assign a unique ASIN, which is used to identify the product in their own system. This also applies to bundles or combinations of different products.

Ensure that your inventorysystem is capable of tracking the different EAN codes for individual products, multi-packs, and bundles. It is also important that the physical packaging of each of these different types of products is clearly labeled with the correct EAN code.
Communication with Amazon

It is necessary to follow these guidelines for a smoother experience with Amazon FBA and to minimize the chance of problems with your inventory and orders.
